City of Rahway Welcomes Harriet Tubman: The Beacon of Hope Traveling Monument

On Saturday, February 3, we officially welcomed the Harriet Tubman: The Beacon of Hope traveling monument to the great City of Rahway. This beautiful monument depicts the likeness of abolitionist Harriet Tubman, who dedicated her life to freeing countless individuals through the Underground Railroad. 

The Harriet Tubman: The Beacon of Hope monument will be on display at City Hall Plaza, located at the corner of E. Milton Ave. and Main St., throughout the month of February.

Thank you to everyone who attended the unveiling, including Union County Commissioners Bette Jane Kowalski and Rebecca L. Wilson, Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Lt. Michael Manochio, Administrator of Cultural and Heritage Affairs Rachael Faillace, Councilwoman Karla Timmons, Councilman Jeff Brooks, Council Vice President Joseph Gibilisco, Council President, Vannie Deloris Parson, Councilwoman Danni Newbury, Councilman Al Parker, Councilman Jeremy Mojica, and Councilwoman Joanna Miles of the Rahway City Council, and Rahway Social Justice Commission members, Rev. Dr. Marti Robinson, Samantha Harries, Kenneth Houston, Jessie Wilson, and Najah Allen, and NAACP-Rahway Branch President Lori Caughman, Esq.
