Rahway, NJ – Mayor Raymond A. Giacobbe and the Rahway City Council have announced a series of exciting Hispanic Heritage Month events taking place in September throughout Downtown Rahway to celebrate the diversity that makes up our great City.
A Flag Raising Ceremony will start off the festivities at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 15 at Rahway Train Station Plaza.
From September 10 - October 6, The Gallery Space will host the virtual We+They=Us Exhibit at www.GallerySpaceRahway.com. This 5th Annual Celebration of Hispanic and Latin Artists will provide a showcase of the rich artistic talent within the Hispanic community in our City.
On September 14 and 21, Celebración returns to Arts District Park from 6:30-8:30 PM for two evenings of dancing with live music featuring original and classic Latin hits. Local restaurants will be on site with food giveaways to share the Hispanic cuisine that thrives in Rahway. Arts District Park is located across the street from the Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC), 1601 Irving Street.
On September 15, UCPAC will be presenting a live performance from the Spanish Harlem Orchestra at 8:00 PM. The Spanish Harlem Orchestra is a 3x Grammy award-winning Salsa and Latin Jazz band, known for their vintage sound that originally defined the genre. The activities will conclude on September 16 with the Hispanic Heritage Celebration taking place from 6:00-9:00 PM outside of the Rahway Recreation Center, located at 275 E. Milton Ave. This celebration will feature an evening of entertainment including live performances by The Cover Girls and Noel with DJ Fauzi who will provide the soundtrack to dance the night away, and local restaurants will be providing free samples of Latin cuisine. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the Rec Center.
“Diversity is one of our City’s greatest strengths, and through the celebration of the many cultures found in Rahway, we can foster a deeper sense of community and belonging for all residents and visitors,” said Mayor Giacobbe.

Experimente el Latido del Corazon de la Herencia Hispana con la Ciudad de Rahway Durante Todo Septiembre
Rahway, NJ – El Alcalde Raymond A. Giacobbe y el Consejo de la Ciudad de Rahway han anunciado una serie de emocionantes eventos del Mes de la Herencia Hispana que se llevara a cabo en Septiembre en todo el Centro de Rahway para celebrar la diversidad que conforma nuestra gran Ciudad.
Una Ceremonia de Bandera iniciará las festividades a las 5:00 PM el Viernes, 15 de Septiembre en la Estación del Tren de Rahway.
Del 10 de Septiembre al 6 de Octubre, The Gallery Space llegara a la Exhibición We+They=Us en línea en www.GallerySpaceRahway.com. Esta 5ta Celebración Anual de Artistas Hispanos y Latinos brindara una muestra del rico talento artístico dentro de la comunidad hispana en nuestra Ciudad.
El 14 y 21 de Septiembre la Celebración regresa al Arts Distric Park de 6:30 – 8:30 PM por dos noches de baile con música en vivo con éxitos Latinos originales y clásicos. Los restaurantes locales estarán en el sitio con obsequios de comida para compartir la cocina hispana que prospera en Rahway. Arts District Park está ubicado frente al Centro de Artes Escénicas del Condado de Union (UCPAC), 1601 Irving Street.
El 15 de Septiembre, UCPAC presentara una presentación en vivo de la Spanish Harlem Orchestra a las 8:00 PM. La Spanish Harlem Orchestra es una banda de Salsa y Jazz Latino ganadora de 3 premios Grammy, conocida por su sonido antiguo que originalmente definió el género. Las actividades concluirán el 15 de Septiembre con la Celebración de la Herencia Hispana que tendrá lugar de 6:00 a 9:00 PM fuera del Centro Recreativo de Rahway, ubicado en 275 E. Milton Ave. esta celebración contara con una noche de entretenimiento que incluye presentaciones en vivo de las Chicas de Portada y Noel con DJ Fauzi, quien brindara la banda sonora para bailar toda la noche, y los restaurantes locales ofrecerán muestras gratuitas de cocina Latina. En caso de mal tiempo, el evento se trasladará dentro del Rec Center.
“La Diversidad es una de las mayores fortalezas de nuestra Ciudad, y mediante la celebración de las muchas culturas que dé encuentran en Rahway, podemos fomentar un sentido más profundo de comunidad y pertenencia para todos los residentes y visitantes” dijo el alcalde Giacobbe.
