Mayor Raymond A. Giacobbe, the Rahway City Council, and the Rahway Special Improvement District (SID) announce Business Improvement Program and Façade Improvement Program.
“The City of Rahway is proud to be home to a thriving local business community, and as such, it is our goal to see new and existing businesses prosper. Councilwoman Danni Newbury, Chairwoman of the Special Improvement District, and I are excited to share information about the SID’s Business Improvement and Façade Improvement Programs to help you set your business or property up for success,” said Mayor Giacobbe.
Businesses that qualify for the Business Improvement Program will be eligible to apply for $2,000 grants for nonpermanent interior improvements, exterior signage, and brand marketing and design services. We believe it is important to foster a diverse business community, therefore any business that is registered as a Minority, Women, Veteran or LGBTQ Business Enterprise will be eligible to receive an additional $1,000 grant that goes towards your business. A business must remain in operaon for one year aer issuance of the grant to qualify for 50% forgiveness and two years for 100% forgiveness.
Eligible commercial property owners can apply for a $10,000 forgivable loan through the Façade Improvement Program. These funds can be used to restore and enhance the outward appearance of your building and storefront to aract new businesses here in our community. Loans will be interest free and forgivable if after five years there has been no transfer of ownership.
