Hamilton Street Bridge - Bridge Remediation Project
Please be advised in the new year, the bridge over the Rahway River Robinson Branch on Hamilton St in Rahway will be partially closed for construction. Field work is anticipated to start on Tuesday January 3rd, 2023. Final completion by March 31st, with paving TBD depending upon the weather. Traffic impact and detours are anticipated to start on Friday January 6th.
The nature of the work will require 24/7 closure of the eastbound lane of the bridge. It is anticipated that the repairs will take approximately 90 days to complete.
A detour route at time of project will be posted and maintained by the contractor for the duration of the project.
TRUCKERS: be advised that a detour for trucks will also be in place that differs from the detour below.

Union County Paving of W. Hazelwood Avenue
On or about 11/4/2022 Union County will be paving W. Hazelwood Avenue from Fulton Street to St. Georges (S.R. 27).
Complete road closures are anticipated on 11/4/22 and 11/9/22.

Utility or Rail Projects
Amtrak Closure of W. Hazelwood Avenue
On or about 10/24/22, W. Hazelwood Avenue will be closed to through traffic for approximately 4 months (February 2023).
Amtrak will begin necessary repairs to the rail bridge over W. Hazelwood Avenue near the intersection with Broad Street.
While work is ongoing at the bridge, W. Hazelwood Avenue will be closed to through traffic at the bridge and the detour route through Rahway will be posted.

Construction activities will be ongoing during the day and the night for the duration of the project, with typical workdays being Monday through Thursday.
Six weekends of work are also proposed between November 2022 and February 2023 to complete critical repairs requiring railroad track outages.
