Public Health

The department inspects a variety of public facilities such as retail food establishments, food vehicles, public recreational pools, body art establishments, and kennels on a routine basis. Food handler training courses are offered (and mandatory to all food establishments) to provide education on food safety techniques that minimize potential food-borne disease outbreaks.

Health Inspectors also respond to citizen complaints related to public health nuisance, food safety, rodent infestations, recreational bathing, noise pollution and childhood lead poisoning investigations.

Please be aware that as of December 1, 2023 The City of Rahway Department of Health will NO LONGER be accepting cash.
